Meet Paulette and Our Board of Trustees

Rev. Paulette Pipe

An ice-breaker I use in retreats and workshops is called, ‘If You Knew Me, You Would Know’, where in partnerships, participants get to share any three things about themselves someone who knew them would know.

So in the spirit of that introduction, but not limited to three things, here are some details that “IF YOU KNEW ME YOU WOULD KNOW”.

  • I am a radio host, meditation teacher, retreat facilitator, guest speaker, adjunct online teacher, and an ordained Unity minister. I am also currently what is known as, the Keeper of the Flame, for the Board of Trustees of Unity Worldwide Ministries where, in addition to being its Spiritual Adviser, I also hold sacred prayerful space during the deliberations, discussions and decision-making process taking place at Board meetings.
  • As passionate as I am about prayer and meditation, I have a variety of practices I can draw on to help usher me into stillness. Some of my favourites include, Kundalini yoga, drumming, spending quality time in nature or by the ocean, Mindfulness meditations, praying with mudras (hand positions), walking the labyrinth, dream work, and journaling.
  • Sacred dance is one of my absolute favorite ways to mindfully move into stillness. To this end I created a meditation program called Dance Your Own Dance where participants join me in finding their own rhythm and dance with free-flowing movement to various genres of upbeat and sacred music.

  • I’m the host of Touching the Stillness, a lively and popular prayer and meditation radio program on Unity Online Radio that airs live on Tuesdays at 11:00AM CST (Noon EST). It’s currently, by far, one of the pivotal aspects of ministry!
  • I endeavor to demonstrate personal attributes such as integrity, self-awareness, creativity, intuition, and generosity.
  • I get to share the gift and passion I have for prayer and meditation with spiritual seekers in the United States and abroad, through the prayer-based workshops, retreats and individual prayer/counseling sessions I lead and facilitate.
  • I dedicate a minimum of one day each month to hushing my mouth – by engaging in Sacred Silent Sabbath, a practice I began back in 2000 and have maintained ever since.

  • I was Born and raised in London, England, and now live in Lee’s Summit, MO in the United States.
  • I hold a BA from Ottawa University, KS, in Ministerial Studies; a Certificate in Fundamentals of
Counselling and Psychotherapy, from Regent’s College, UK; and a Journalism Diploma from Grant
    McEwan College, Alberta, Canada.
  • I previously served as the manager of Unity Events and Retreats at Unity Village for three years,
creating new retreats and workshops and providing excellent guest services for visiting retreat
presenters and retreat participants. During that time I also established the Touching the Stillness
Silent Retreat, which became an extremely popular annual event.
  • I was formerly the Spiritual Director of the UK Unity headquarters for almost two years where I
managed the Silent Unity prayer ministry; headed the Unity U.K.’s national Spiritual Education
Program; organized and facilitated Unity retreats around the U.K., and performed other typical
    ministerial duties.
  • My career, before answering the call to ministry, was as a professional fund-raising manager
(Development Officer) for a number of medium-sized national UK charities, including Motability (a
charity for disabled drivers), the Down’s Syndrome Association, and the Women’s Institute (WI) where
I was also merchandising manager of its trading arm, WI Enterprises.
  • I am a qualified business and trade magazine journalist, and once got nominated for a prestigous
industry award, the name of which eludes me! While practicing my craft in that previous life, I
specialized in writing for various national UK trade titles, such as MicroScope, Drapers Record
and, during my time as a freelance journalist, wrote for a wide variety of industry-leading business

  • I love Tuesdays – the day I get to host my Unity Online Radio program, which just leaves me feeling jazzed!
  • I thoroughly enjoy the process of visioning my prayers using the practice of “treasure mapping” (or Vision Boards), and have a gallery of completed vision boards displayed in my office and dotted around the garage walls.
  • I love, love, love to dance – but nothing choreographed otherwise I appear uncoordinated and as skittish as a doe!
  • I love giving life the light touch by blowing bubbles; it delights me and causes me to giggle like a kid.
  • I resonate with the sound of the drumbeat in inexplicable ways; and love drumming on my djembe African drum as a way to unwind or prepare for prayer.
  • I love to sing out loud but in consideration of others I do most of my warbling while in the shower!
  • I absolutely love good quality dark chocolate, almost as much as I love champagne (it’s those bubbles again); and I don’t have to wait for a special occasion to delve into that chocolate box or pop a cork!
  • I love being by the water, particularly by the ocean, a lake, or a waterfall.
  • The journalist in me loves to tell stories, while the Piscean in me loves to daydream…

  • Travel extensively through Hawaii, New Zealand, and Australia; and visit the Greek Islands (which
were on my doorstep when I lived in the UK!).
  • Have Afternoon Tea with Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and Toni Morrison. I’d also love to have afternoon
Tea at the Plaza, in New York too, so perhaps the four of us could just meet up together there for tea and
    posh sandwiches;
  • Enjoy a Champagne and Chocolates flight in a hot air balloon;
  • Walk the labyrinth by candlelight at Chartres Cathedral, in Chartres, France.
